About Me

I grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of a Philippines-born Spaniard and a Mississippian. My father, an architect/the Mississippian, maintained a lifelong art practice, modeling the importance of art-making and appreciation for me. As an immigrant from a blend of European and Asian cultures, my mother instilled in me an expansive worldview. I graduated from Rhodes College with degrees in studio art and creative writing and later returned to manage the college’s digital projects. Currently, I work as a digital IA/UX strategist for a large, global B2B hardware and software provider.

I took a way-too-long break from drawing and painting after college but returned to it in 2011, at first tentatively but with growing confidence thanks to Flicker Street Studio, Memphis Urban Sketchers, and the warm support of other Memphis artists. At first I focused on alla prima oil painting, but since 2023 I’ve worked mainly in ink, watercolor, and pencil. I draw both on-site and from reference photos or memory.

In 2019, my drawings and sketchbooks were included in “First Saturdays,” a group exhibition of work by Memphis Urban Sketchers at Dixon Gallery and Gardens. My still life paintings were on view at Eclectic Eye in 2020 and 2021. Most recently in 2024, I showed ink and watercolor scenes, mostly of Memphis, at Eclectic Eye.
